For over 30 years, Salem has helped support the education pursuits of its young members through Salem scholarships.
Funds to support the program come from interest on the scholarship fund investments and contributions received from the congregation.
Deadline for submission of completed application materials is April 15.
Salem scholarships are in the amount of $1000 per year, renewable up to four years.
Salem educational grants are awarded in instances where applicants establish special merit on the basis of one or more selection criteria. Educational grants are in the amount of $400-600, renewable up to four years.
Who may apply?
- Graduating high school seniors planning to attend an undergraduate college or university
- Students proposing to attend vocational or trade school
- Students seeking to return to post-secondary education after an interruption in their schooling
- Students enrolled in graduate or professional post BA/BS programs
Applicants must be communing members of Salem Lutheran Church.
Additional criteria include:
- Academic achivement
- Christian character and service (including participation and/or leadership in church, school, or community activities)
- Educational goals
- Financial need
What is the Application Process?
A complete application includes:
- Completed form
- An official transcript of grades
- Two letters of recommendation
- One from a teacher, advisor, or employer
- One from a Salem member other than immediate family
